Placenta - histology slide

This is a histology slide of the placenta. Most of the section shows chorionic villi (2) at low power. In the second image these are seen as round with a layer of syncytiotrophoblasts on the outer surface. The core consists of collagenous tissue within which there are capillaries containing fetal blood cells.
