Cerebellum - histology slide
|
This is a histology slide of the cerebellum. The cerebellar cortex consists of an outer molecular layer which appears mainly as eosinophilic neuropil with a few glia cell nuclei; Purkinje cells (larger pyramidal neurons dispersed at
the junction with the granular cell layer); and the latter which consists of small cells with little cytoplasm and darkly staining nuclei.
Histology image descriptions and photography by Frank N. Miller, M.D.; histology image courtesy of Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
