Epithelium (surface layer of tissue cells) of vesicomyid clam gill covered with cilia (thin, finger-like projections). The gills of the clam are arranged in filaments and connected with tissue junctions. Bacterial symbionts are present in bacteriocytes (specific cells) on the filaments. Scale bar=50 microns.
